International Showcasing

The Horizon showcase at the Edinburgh Fringe focuses on forging deep, sustainable relationships between artists making performance in England and international partners. I supported the The Talent, a collaboration between Action Hero and Deborah Pearson, facilitating conversations between the artistic team and international programmers attending the showcase (Aug 2023).

Strategic development

I was commissioned by the European Cultural Foundation to review and analyse their European Pavilion programme since its inception in 2020. The aim of the review was to support the development of the programme’s concept and ensure its alignment with the ECF’s 2025-2029 strategic period. The analysis employed an assessment approach, which involved reviewing a wide selection of documents related to the TEP programme and engaging with relevant stakeholders through open-ended discussions, referred to as narrative assessments. Narrative assessments differ from conventional evaluation interviews in that they are not structured as in-person surveys with predetermined questions. Instead, interviewees are encouraged to share their stories freely and through open dialogue seek to uncover individual experiences and insights. This method allows interviewees to use their own language and narrative pathways, emphasising personal discoveries and lessons without imposing an interviewer’s bias. (Sep 24 - Jan 25).

In collaboration with Milica Illic, a consultant based in Brussels, we drafted a scoping report and produced a set of recommendations to support Projekt Europa’s international partnership development strategy (Sep 2022 - Jan 23)

Undertook research on behalf of the Barbican to develop a set of recommendations to develop an International Staff Exchange Programme (July - Aug 2022)

As a consultant on the Weston Jerwood Creative Bursaries, I supported partners and Fellows in shaping and delivering the international component of the programme, Creatives Explore. This initiative provides Fellows with the opportunity to explore how transnational connections can enhance their career sustainability, foster relationships with peers across Europe, and build a broader community of cultural workers and artists beyond the UK. The WJCB programme supported 50 salaried positions in arts and cultural organisations across the UK, focusing on individuals from low socio-economic backgrounds. It is dedicated to nurturing outstanding early-career artists, curators, producers, and creatives, partnering with leading arts and cultural organisations to take an inclusive, intersectional approach to recruitment, artist development, and organisational change (Aug 2021 - July 2022).

Evaluation

Drafting of an evaluation framework to capture and communicate internal learning for a new residency programme at the Bluecoat , Liverpool. This residency was set up to support dance artists interested in engaging with audiences within a visual arts organisation and was devised to embed the value of a care within its development (April - Sept 22)
