Olivia Bellas FRSA and I recently designed and delivered an action research project involving a ‘Civic Creativity Insights Group’ and we developed a ‘Things to Consider’ hand-out. This is a high level set of prompts to help you prepare for and design a Walk & Talk experience, specific to a workplace setting.

I was one of 12 selected participants for the CreatingNowForTheFuture programme, where I collaborated with fellow creative peers and the team at Julie's Bicycle to develop new, practical, relevant, and accessible resources for freelancers, producers, and individuals creating artistic work (March – May 2024).
I was selected as one of the participants contributing to the Where to Land forum, which focuses on embedding climate crisis activism within the performing arts landscape in Europe. Launched in early 2022, Where to Land is an initiative involving a consortium of European partners, including the Theatre and Dance Office of the French Institute in Germany, Syndeac (Syndicat national des entreprises artistiques et culturelles), the City of Strasbourg, the Goethe-Institut, Institut Français, Aktionsnetzwerk Nachhaltigkeit, and Maillon, Théâtre de Strasbourg - Scène européenne. I worked specifically within the context of the Digital Sustainability workshop, led by Robert Gabriel (Metamine), a climate activist focusing on digital sustainability and democracy. I also edited a subsequent blog post into a report, which is available for download (October 2022).
I was selected as one of the experts providing capacity-building services and peer-learning activities for the upcoming European Capitals of Culture. The Capacity Building for European Capitals of Culture project aims to bridge skills gaps and strengthen the capacity of the teams implementing these cultural initiatives. Experts were sought in key areas including audience development, conflict resolution, change management, legal issues (such as intellectual property rights and licensing agreements), and monitoring and evaluation in the cultural sector. My expertise also extended to management, communications, coordination, and international relations (2022).
Culture in Flux is an international consultancy focused on designing cultural strategies and interventions that create measurable impact for individuals and communities. In 2021, through CIF, I supported the recruitment process for a new Head of Programming at Battersea Arts Centre, helping to attract candidates eager to explore innovative models of co-created programming with audiences, artists, and peers (April 2021 – ongoing).
Executive Producer on Impact Dance’s youth engagement project, Ten-a-City presented during the London Festival of Architecture. My role was to contribute to shaping the project and funding bid, meet with key stakeholders, initiate and lead on the participatory global discussion platform and draft the international brief for 9 of the overseas partners whilst supporting the Impact team as appropriate regarding project design and delivery. Bid writer to the Australian Cultural Diplomacy Grants Program on behalf of a consortium of British festivals.(May 2020)
Policy Researcher & lead of Conservatoires UK. Performing and visual arts higher education institutions and conservatoires make a significant contribution to the UK economy, to the creative and cultural prosperity of the UK, and to the social good more widely. This contribution is not, however, always well understood or recognised. Such institutions also have distinctive issues that need to be considered in developing policy and regulation. As Policy researcher & lead for CUK I am responsible for engaging with specialist institutions and supporting them through evidenced-based policy analysis and advocacy. (March 2020 - ongoing in a part time capacity)
Participated in two of ERIAC’s capacity-building workshops aimed at empowering and strengthening the Roma community. This includes a Romani Language Crash Course and Healing Historical Trauma: Commemoration and Healing in the Roma Community. (July 24)
Completion of the course MOOC "Arts, Armed Conflict and Humanitarian Aid" . This training space is dedicated to the different professionals of the humanitarian or artistic field concerned by artistic practices in humanitarian emergencies. (Feb 22)
A Fair Trade Model for Freelancers - as a member of the Freelance network I have had an opportunity to contribute to the newly published 5 Guiding Principles which is a toolkit to help support the performing arts sector to improve working practices to ensure a more equitable, sustainable, productive sector for all who work in it.
